God Intersections

A few weeks ago, I was invited by a Pastor friend, Desmond Frey from Zurich, Switzerland, www.powerhousechurch.ch/ to meet with him and two other pastors to explore church planting in Europe. Europe is in desperate need of The Gospel and developing strong, viable Bible based churches. The most recent statistical research shows that less than 4% of Europe is “saved”.

This Intersection was my first time to meet the other pastors. One was from The Netherlands, Sebastian Van Wessem, www.europeadvance.org/ the other from America, Steve Hickey.

As Leadership Productivity Forum and Godintersections.com have grown there has been in incessant need for knowledge, expertise and wisdom. In the fall of 2008 I started freaking out about “all” the things that “I” needed to do to move my Leadership Productivity Forum’s forward. Everything from business cards to websites to sales material to logo’s to taglines to forum materials to sales contacts etc. There wasn’t enough time to do everything. I felt like I was “in a salt mine” (my term for much hard work in a dark place with little results). I know from experience there is no God in such an approach.

It forced me to sit down and further explore whose business was Leadership Productivity Forum anyway (see related article at http://godintersections.com/meadering). Did I really believe it was God’s business? If so then I was simply the steward or day manager ofthe business. It occurred to me that as the steward I could tell the Owner (God) what I needed and He needed toprovide. An interesting thought the first time I had it.

What I needed was internet marketing expertise.

Serendipity is finding something unexpected and useful while searching for something else entirely. I have come to experience that in the normal course of living out my roles and responsibilities.  Serendipitous connections regularly occur. These events are God’s hand guiding to me what is needed for Him to fulfill the dreams He has for me.

The words written by author Dallas Willard have had a great influence on my life. Dallas Willard’s work was introduced to me in September 2003 by my friend Don. Don gave me a CD of a speech he heard Dallas deliver. The speech led me to purchase a copy of Willard’s book The Divine Conspiracy. The book is about rediscovering our hidden life in God, “life on the rock,” the life that hears and does.
