Moving from Man’s Economy to God’s Economy

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

As this idea of Prospering in the New Economy has evolved, I’ve been pondering how God will use these concepts for His purposes and our Provision.  And, of course, as I journey this path, God provides the answers right on time.  In this case part of the answer came in the form of an article by Chuck Bentley, CEO Crown Ministries (www.crown.org).  In the October issue of MoneyMatters Chuck wrote about “The Security you seek is in God’s Economy”.  As I read Chuck’s article a God-Idea formed in my head regarding the basis of Man’s (or the World’s) Economy and God’s Economy.

Finding God’s Rhythm for Our Lives

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

Does the term “God’s Rhythm for our Lives” speak to you? Have you ever experienced that state in your life and/or business where you seem to be “in sync with the universe”? This idea of “God’s Rhythm” in my life has been percolating in me for several years. And as readers of this blog know, I’ve been pondering the idea of releasing control of my life to God for the last year or so. Interesting how long it takes to “get a voice” for what God is teaching us.

God’s Multiplication in my Business

Friday, October 9th, 2009

As many of you know, I started a business last year to help business owners trust God with their businesses and lives. The idea is to facilitate small groups of business owners to encourage one another, build authentic relationships and improve our bottom line(s). We call these groups Leadership Productivity Forum’s (LPF).

In the early days of LPF God made it clear (yes God talks to me, mostly through my thoughts) that my primary goal is to SERVE the business owners He Intersects me with. He set out several additional guidelines. They included:

  1. Serve First
  2. Relationships are more important than profit
  3. No Sales Calls with the intent of “closing the sale”
  4. God would tell me when I could charge for my services
  5. Look for His Intersections daily

God owns my life/business????

Friday, September 25th, 2009

With my life being all about exploring God Intersections in peoples lives and businesses I have a wonderful view of God working in folks lives.  The peace people feel surrounding the “is God in my life question” appears largely linked to their ability to give their lives to God (thereby generating another block of questions like “How do I do that?).  As I’ve pondered these concepts, my Current Best Thinking led me to some questions:

  1. Who is the owner of my life/business?
  2. How would I know by watching what I do?
  3. If God is not the Owner – how do I make Him the Owner? (more…)

God is at His Best in My Life when….

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

I was talking to my German Missionary friend Larry Blakeslee this week (http://azblake.blogspot.com).  We were discussing how neither of us are currently seeing the big picture of what God is doing in our lives, ministries and businesses.  We both clearly see the hand of God in our lives, we just can’t figure out where He is currently headed.

And out of my mouth came these words “God is at His best when we don’t understand what He is doing”. Interestingly we both recognized these words as a “God Intersection” and both commented that we would need to ponder it further.

Standing on the Edge (with God?)

Friday, August 14th, 2009

How many of us feel like we are standing on the edge of a precipice in our life.  A precipice that if  we take just one more step we will go plunging over the Edge into a nightmare we have no desire to experience.  A nightmare that represents our deepest fears economically, marriage wise, kid wise,  job wise, whatever.  And every part of us wants to turn from that edge and RUN.  Run like crazy back to the old days (that would be 2007) of predictable and normal and “not too much stress” (even though we didn’t sleep well). But as we stand there we have this strange sense that running back to the “old way” will not solve anything.   That we would simply become entrapped in the old unfulfilled life.

God’s Path or Mine

Monday, July 27th, 2009

For last couple of months I’ve been talking regularly with a missionary friend of mine,  Larry Blakeslee (www.azblake.blogspot.com) who lives in Germany.  We are having a running conversation on the subject of God’s path for our life, how we find it and how we stay on it.  As both Larry and I discussed the current results of our work/ministry, we agreed things are not yet what we had pictured them to be when we began our adventures.  The question we both had was “What do we do now?”. Whose Business is it Anyway?

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

We all have a choice as to whether we believe in something bigger than ourselves, something other than self or NOT. I call this living in something bigger “God” but you can choose your own word. If you don’t believe in God then you can probably stop reading now.

If you do believe in God, are you willing to turn over “the outcome” of your business and life to this God? If not, again you can probably stop reading. But before you bail, how is this believing in God but maintaining personal responsibility for the outcome working for you anyway? If it isn’t working KEEP READING.

Managing the Outcomes of our Life/Businesses

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

Do you agree with the idea that God gives us our businesses and lives and He simply wants us to be good Stewards of them?   If so, you can say we have a part and God has a part.  And as owner of the business God’s part is the financial outcome – how the business turns out.  That should free us from the incessant worrying about:

  1. How our actions are negatively impacting the business?
  2. Are we working hard enough?
  3. Is there something we should be doing that we aren’t?
  4. Why aren’t the financial results where we want them to be? (more…)
